Long time gone

I didn't mean to be gone so long. But you know, aside from the everyday things of life that have kept me occupied, I'm not happy with my blog. I found myself going in a direction that I didn't want to and even made a comment about changing that, but it didn't happen. I have been very discouraged because aside from one very loyal reader/friend, I get no comments. I don't have the bells and whistles on here like most of you talented ladies out there and I dearly love to visit your sites. I just wanted a forum where other women could share things with me and I haven't established that here at all. It's no one's fault but my own and I'm not sure how I want to remedy that. I may stop altogether or start another one or just work on this one. Perhaps I've given up too quickly?

Well, I will share my news with anyone that is interested. First of all, Sam and I have bought our little farm and couldn't be more excited. We've begun taking things out there and we'll be having one big box burning by the end of the move! I never want to see another moving box/roll of packing tape again. This little farm is so good for our souls. It's so quiet that it is sometimes deafening. We have stood outside in the twilight and the only sounds we heard were cows on the hill next to us chewing grass. We can see the outlines of headstones across the way on a little hill from us and at night, some of them have glowing crosses that is beautiful but creepy. I can't wait for our sons to see those...it will delight them. (boys are always boys, right?)

Next weekend, we get to see our beautiful baby granddaughters as they will be baptized. It's been too long. There has been so much flu running rampant in our area that we cancelled a trip last week to see them for fear of taking that bug to them and I would die before I made those babies sick. It will be a sweet time next weekend and an emotional one for this grandma.

I went to the eye dr. last week and learned that the constant blurriness in one of my eyes is due to a cataract. After getting over the shock of hearing that term, I learned that people as young as 40 can get them. (I'm early 50's) The dr. said that although I was young, it wasn't unheard of and having Lasik surgery would not help at this stage. I'm terribly near-sighted and was hoping he would tell me I am a good candidate. But the good news is that insurance pays for cataract surgery and I should have almost 20/20 vision in that eye when all is said and done. I still have a hard time saying "cataract"! Oh, it's a joy to get old. Seriously, I have a lot to be grateful for and wouldn't be young again for anything.

I hope you all have a blessed Sunday and will bear with me as I decide what direction to take here.

Leeann

p.s. To my friend, Karen....thank you for your faithfulness and friendship.

Good Afternoon LeeAnn,
I have just woken up from an afternoon nap since I got up at 2:30a.m. this morning. Oh dear, please don't quit blogging. I know you may seem discouraged, but please don't give up. Shortly after I had started blogging, I had thought about quitting as well, but then I started making new friends and I'm glad now I didn't. I'll tell you what I will do for you. How about I share some linky love about you on my tomorrow's post and let everyone know about you? Would that be okay? I'm so excited about yall starting your move. I know yall are too. It sounds so serene out there. I am really excited about our new house also, but I always dread the moving part. LOL. I'm ashamed to say this, but we still don't have everything out from our old house yet. LOL. I still have all the stuff on my walls over there and some other odds and ends, but that's about it tho. All the big furniture we moved here back in August when we moved. Oh don't mention the "Getting Old" phrase. LOL. I will be 46 this month. I feel quite old myself. I will be praying for your eye surgery. I know GOD will see you thru it and you will do just fine. GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME, GOD IS GOOD!!!! If you will email me some things about you, I will let everyone know about you on my post tomorrow. You know things like what state you live in, what you like and don't like, you know, little things like that. I do appreciate your friendship LeeAnn. Just please don't be discouraged and give up. That's the easy way out. I know I am going to be offline here sometime later this week and as soon as the Cable Company gets us hooked back up, I will be back on. So, don't get upset if you see that I haven't posted for a few days. You know how those companies are, they want you to hurry up and pay your bill, but when you need something done, they take their sweet time about coming out to do it. Just know that I haven't quit and am in the processed of being hooked back up again. Take care my friend and have a great evening. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

My friend Karen led me to your blog, and I am glad she did. Please do not give up on blogging, you have a lovely blog sweetie. I am happy for you and your husband about owning a farm, that is so nice. I bet your grandbabies are beautiful. Please do not think you are old because you have a cataract dear, I am 44, and I had to have a cataract removed from my right eye last year, and I now have one in my left eye. You hang in there, God loves you very much, be blessed.

Hi Leann!!! I'm here from Karen's blog and read that you're not getting comments. I know how you feel...at first when I started I got none either, but then I realized that no one KNEW my blog existed, so I began visiting and leaving comments here and there, and joining daily memes...and from when I began visiting others my life has been enriched.

I'm in my LATE fifties, retired with hubby on the gulf shore and enjoying the peaceful existence of just the two of us.

It's nice to meet you. Have a wonderful day today.

Well, I'll just say ditto to what others have commented. I am always searching for new and interesting sites to visit. Whenever anyone visits me and comments, I try to check them out. I can't visit everyone every day. I once felt like you do and found out that some regulars were reading but not commenting. I decided to just do it for me. About bells and whistles, some have too much and take too long to download. I like a more simple blog for myself. I do like to include pictures from time to time.
You don't say where in the South you are located. I am a southerner also. I am in my 50s and have 3 children, 7 grandchildren. I want to read more of your blog and find out more about this farm. Come by some time.

Hi, my name is bj and I'm so glad to meet you. My friend and yours, Karen, sent me over. What a great friend she is!
The number one thing to get more comments is to spend time visiting other blogs. No one knows you are here unless you do this. It does take a lot of time but when I first started, I would visit 6 people every day...than another 6 the next day. It will help getting the word out that you are here. Someone told me there are well over 30,000 blogs now so you can see that you might get lost in all of them without visiting others.
Please come by to see me when you can and I will be back to see you soon.
Congratulations on buying your farm...how exciting for you.
hugs, bj

Hi, Leeann! I've been blogging for almost a year, and get very few comments, but I have a lot of family and several shy people that come a check out what I'm doing. I just pray that I can be a blessing to someone, so don't give up. If it weren't for Karen, sometimes I wouldn't have any comments! LOL! Praise God for friends like her! God bless you on your move - what a dream! Sounds like paradise! Hope all goes smoothly for you. I'm set to stay, too, after 15 moves! VBS! It surely can be trying!
Take care, dear friend, and God bless you!

Good afternoon,
I just found your blog through our friend Karen. I have not been blogging long either. I do agree with the others in order to get comments you should try to visit other blogs and leave comments. This way they will know about you...Smiles

Just found your blog through Karen. Now that I have found it I will visit more often. It is really hard starting out blogging, but I have found that once I started visiting more and leaving a comment people came a calling. Stay a bit longer, come and visit all of us.

Looks like our mutual friend, Karen, got the word out because here we all are.

I read your profile and smiled. I don't fit into anyone's mold either.

What good news about your farm. I hope you'll be very happy with it.

And as for bells and whistles, they're nice and I enjoy seeing them on the blogs of others but, unless I like the person and what they have to say, I don't return.

I'll add you to my Bloglines feeder and to my blogroll if I ever get it caught up. Meantime, nice meeting you (unless we've met before). I remember a LeeAnn in my comments but don't think it was you. Come visit me anytime.

Ann (aka granny)

Hi Lee Ann,

Whta a lovely blog you have! Came to visit from sweet Karen's, and am glad I did. I have been reading your blog entries and they show a caring, sensitive lady.

Congratulations on buying your little farm. Living in the country is a real blessing. At least, that's how I feel about it.

Glad to have gotten to know you, Lee Ann. I hope you've had a nice Monday.

Blessings and Hugs,

Hi Leeann,
Just like all the rest, I'm here because of our sweet friend, Karen. I'm late getting here but you know the old saying..better late than never.

I do hope you won't give up on blogging. I was a lurker before I ever had a blog and finally got up the nerve to leave a few comments. Then I got up some more nerve and started my own blog.

Just like all the others have said, if you visit and comment it helps to get to know people. I would visit a blog then check out their blogroll for other interesting looking blogs and so on.

I've enjoyed visiting you and after glancing through your posts I see that we have a lot in common, like grandchildren and cataracs!! LOL I live in an old farmhouse but not on a farm! I'm also the "wordy" one too as you can tell!! :o)

Please stop by to see me at my humble blog. Be sure to leave me a comment so I'll know you're there! Give blogging another chance now that you've met some of us.

Okay, I'm hushing now!

Hugs,
Hope

Hi Leeann!! How exciting about your farm! It certainly sounds beautiful by the way you describe it!! I wish you had a camera and could take pictures to share. :)

I'm sorry about the cataracts, but it is relieving, I am sure, to know WHY there has been bluriness lately. Thankfully you can have the surgery and see VERY well!! That will be a blessing!! I would LOVE to have 20/20 vision, but, alas, my contacts and I will be lifelong friends, I am afraid. LOL!!!

What a blessing to have your granddaughters!! I'll bet they are absolutely adorable and even sweeter than they are cute!!!

Don't stop blogging yet. It can be hard to get going, I know. I visit lots of blogs and try to always leave comments so that people will come back and visit me, too. Also, it is fun to participate in some of the weekly blogs like Menu Plan Monday or Frugal Friday or Show and Tell Friday. That way, you can link your blog to someone else's and others will see and want to come visit!!!

Have a blessed night!!!

His,
Mrs. U

Leeann,

I've been sick with that nasty flu bug you mentioned and let me tell you, it was no fun. I was down and out completely for 3 full days, which is not like me. I never lie around in bed and I always get dressed, even if I'm sick. Not this time. Anyway, that is why I didn't see the mention of Karen's blog until today.

I'm so glad that all these lovelie ladies, many of them my friends as well as Karen's, came over to meet you. I hope to get to know you better.

Blessings,
Mary
